Why
choose
wharton

We provide the natural advice you need to successfully balance commercial, environmental and human needs, naturally increasing the true value of your land of property.

Our highly qualified team can help you find the most successful natural-infrastructure solutions; minimise the risk to users of their land, form plans to improve ecology and advise construction companies how to work safely around their site.

Understanding the complete constraints and opportunities of any site, whether it be arboricultural, ecological or topographical to name but a few elements, is critical in order to design and plan a successful proposal.

OUR CULTURE

Wharton was initially set up in 2008 with the ambition to provide professional and pragmatic arboricultural consultancy, based on the years of experience that Peter had from working in the public and private sectors. This experience allowed a unique approach to form where trees were viewed as assets as opposed to constraints to development and a ‘can do’ solution led approach was developed for the early clients. This was refreshing for developers, architects and land managers and allowed them to achieve great results with higher success.

This early passion and solution-led approach has always been at the heart of what Wharton does with a team now 15 strong and growing. Since 2008 we have now developed an ambition to be the leading environmental consultancy in our specialist fields giving positive, innovative and honest advice to anyone who works with us either as part of the team or as a client. We firmly believe that collaboration is the key to our success, providing realistic approaches whilst not shirking our professional responsibility to achieve a balance between the natural and built environments to enhance those places where we live, work and play.

Our culture flows through everyone in the team because from employing our first team member in 2014, the employees have always been the priority, with everyone’s opinions being heard and initiatives delivered. Creating a culture of respect, where every team member has a voice and an environment where each person enjoys spending time, is significantly more powerful than dictating. We empower all team members to enable them to personally develop, step out of their comfort zones and then go on to achieve their personal goals and not just the business objectives. For this reason, we employ people based on the person and their attitude as opposed to simply looking at a CV and qualification. Our culture continues to evolve based on those people that join the team.

For our clients and partners, this means when you work with us because the team is driven and happy you will get the best results from them, not simply a ‘yes’ person but someone who believes that integrating with your team is vital to foster relationships. This enables both parties to develop longer working relationships based on trust, knowledge and a collaborative approach. One thing we have learnt over the years of providing tree, ecology and landscape advice is that balance is critical to success. Not every idea can be achieved due to so many competing factors through the development process, from initial feasibility and concept to detailed design and onsite construction. This balanced culture within the company provides those with who we work an assurance that we can achieve their development ambition, whilst also creating unique, beautiful, and commercially viable spaces to benefit the environment, linking communities via the use of green and blue space and infrastructure.
